Welcome to HerdingTheDragon.com!

I'm a writer, a freelancer, a crafter, a nail polish mixatrix, a tea drinker, an unconventional life-liver, a journaling junkie, an introvert, a chronic-pain-sufferer, an idealist, a geek, a TV-lover. Welcome to my corner of the web!

My Instagrammed Life

Work with me!

There's a couple of ways to work with me, and I'd love to talk to you about any or all of them!

BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE, let's get clear about my topics!

  • scifi or fantasy books - old or new, whichever ones appeal to me, but especially underrepresented ones and one writen by or starring awesome ladies
  • genre TV - especially ones with super heroes, time travel, apocalypses, space ships, or various sorts of detectives
  • healthy eating - gluten free that isn't fussy, whole foods, ethnic food, delicious snacks and baking, seasonal eating, things like that; tea, chocolate, weirdly favored chips, candy, baked goods, soups and other one-pot things, yogurt. root beer, edible things that come in monthly boxes...
  • creative living - how to be a writer, a creator, a DIYer, a crafter; how to live a creative life, even if it means not living a standard life, being who you are, decorating how you want, building an ideal life...
  • writing - literally almost anything about writing from how-to's to discussions of form and style to writing events
  • crafting - almost any making-stuff topics, but especially cheap and fast ones, things made of yarn or paper, paint or stamping, collaging, or basic sewing
  • gardening - for food, in small spaces, in containers; organic gardening; permaculture; new kinds of home garden seeds or tools or services
  • geekery - conventions, conferences, tv show events, merch and swag, awesome news, real world stuff that's totally scifi, movies, clothes, makeup, all that stuff
  • journaling and planning
  • making the world simpler, cheaper, or better - especially if those things are made by women or people from other countries, if they're simple enough that we all need to just do it, if they're cheap and easy adaptations, if they're fantastic ideas, if they're very well designed and easy to get, if they tell a story of a better world just by existing...

If you want me to review something:

  • Let me know what sort of review you're looking for! If it has to do with scifi or fantasy books, genre TV, healthy eating, creative living, writing, crafting, gardening, geekery, journaling and planning, or making the world simpler, cheaper, or better, let's talk!
  • I don't do those dull sort of reviews that are just to bump ratings and links; I'll give an honest opinion, do my best to be balanced, and I'll post it here.
  • I'll include up to three links in the post, and a section at the bottom with a bio and where to find you or your stuff online.
  • I'll post it whenever my next open blogging slot is, unless we agree on a specific day (like for book releases or something).

If you want to review something of mine:

  • If you've bought something of mine, you can review it however you like, and it would be great if you drop me a link so I can find it!
  • If you're looking for freebies...that's tricky. I'm too poor to provide lots of freebies, but if you've got a good following in the right fields, maybe we can work something out.

If you want to guest post:

  • I do accept occasional guest posts!
  • Your post has to be in one of the fields I cover, and it has to be well-written and not too far off my tone or point of view; I'm not interested in arguing. This is a place to share info and spread creativity!
  • I'll do a little intro at the top and include a bio at the bottom with your links.
  • I reserve the right to refuse things that don't work, and to ask for work on things that feel incomplete.

If you want me to guest post for you:

  • If you're in a related field to what I talk about, I'm happy to see if we can come up with a topic I want to talk about and you want to hear about!
  • I'll do my very best to turn in something interesting, polished, and ready to post!
  • I ask that you link back to here and include my social media links and a bio.
  • I'll share the post on my social media and link to it here!
If you need promo:
  • I occasionally do individual promo posts for scifi and fantasy books, especially small-press and self-pubbed books. These include the cover, the synopsis as listed wherever you can buy them, and links to your blog and media in a short bio.*
  • I also do, at the end of some months, a group promo post, where I put up a pic or what's being promo'ed and a quick line or two about what it is, with a link to learn more.
  • Contact me to figure out which works better for you!

If you need editing:

  • I don't do a lot of editing, but I'm happy to help writers do better! Please click on the Hypergraphia Writing Services link at the top of the page to see rates and available offerings!

If you want to join a class or other activity:

  • Coming soon-ish! Probably in 2017!

If you want to help support this blog:

  • You can donate any amount at any time to Paypal.me/pirategirljack and I'll list your name as a patron of this site. There's also a donation link on the front page.
  • You can buy ad space! There's a link at the top of the page that says "Be A Sponsor" with all the info you need. Or contact me for more information. If you're a sponsor, I'll do one sponsored post each month, and your latest offering can be included in that post.

*I might also consider doing this sort of promo for shows, movies, events, and maybe items, if they're within my fields.
