I just finished Susannah Conway's Find Your Word email class, and got my word for the year!
Last year, I never picked a word, and I wish I'd had this class--not sure if she offered it or something like it, but I never found it if she did, and since I didn't have printable pages and daily reminders of what I was doing, I never decided on even a cloud of words to guide how I wanted to live the year. And 2016 has been, since the beginning, a year that needs guidance to get through. It's been hard, you guys, for me and for the world, and it would have been nice to have something to hold onto while I trudged through it.
The closest I had was "the only way out is through", which is not super inspiring.
But this year coming up, I wanted to actually get on the ball. I wanted to have Goals (which I also never defined for 2016), and I wanted a Word, and I wanted to have actual things I actually wanted to get done.
So when I saw her link for her free five day thing, I jumped on it. And as a bonus, I think I maybe also discovered some of my Core Desired Feelings for this year, too, though I haven't ironed them down yet. I'm working through my workbooks slowly and leisurely to be sure I'm being honest with myself.
Anyway, my 2017 word is MEANING.
I think a lot of what I've been wrestling with in my life boils down to a lack of meaning--both in the sense that I don't feel like what I've been spending a lot of time on IRL matters much and therefore doesn't suit me very well anymore, and in the sense that there's a lot going on that I just flat out don't understand. So 2017 will be about getting meaning into my life, and finding out what things mean, and being meaningful to the world.
And here's a thing I was thinking we could all do:
- If you guys can point me toward or link me to things that talk about or bring Meaning
- I'll link you guys to things that line up with YOUR words!
We'll build a network of shared information this year, all the good posts and books and ideas handed around where we can all get them. What do you think?
What's your word? How are you going to find it or use it in 2017? Let's support each other!
