Sami Does Poems 2

The baby puts and acorn in his mouth
and it looks like a cross-species
fetus-in-fetu--a baby him
eating a baby tree
when they're both barely started.
The acorn had no defense,
the blush on its shell
sweet and fresh as new grapes
and the baby's teeth were sharp
as knives, a predator's mouth
inside the sweet little boy's smile.
The baby's sharp teeth didn't break
and neither did the shell
and both left without a thought
for the other.
It's only me, spectator, rememberer
left with the image of a beast
where my nephew had been.
